Basement remodel

Yes it's true -- 6 weeks before our baby boy is set to arrive papa bear decided to start renovation on the basement. Woah I said!! This is a big take on especially since you will have a newborn. He decided he wanted to go ahead and do it! So here we go on our little journey to remodel the basement!! Our mission as follows...
1. Take down all wood panels on walls and drop down ceiling
2. Electrical and plumbing
3. Heat/AC unit, gas logs in fireplace
4. Hang dry wall on walls in living area, walk in closet and bedroom
5. Beadbored Diy ceiling
6. Hire out to finish walls
7. Lighting -- in ceiling
8. Flooring... Deciding on carpet, laminate hardwood or vinyl hardwood floors
9. Paint every room
10. Staircase ?? Still deciding on what to do with those
11. Deciding whether he will put in a bathroom

Unfinished side of basement- the plan for the unfinished side where the storage shelving and washing machine and dryer are will be do paint the concrete floors and walls to brighten the area up and make it look more clean!!

By the way, baby Davis' room is complete!! Pics to follow on next post!!

32 weeks of pregnancy

This week is the 32nd week of pregnancy! I have to say it's moving along quickly and I am so excited to meet our baby boy I can barely stand it!! I really can't complain about anything to this point. I have no stretch marks, no weird cravings, sleep well at night, no major edema or swelling and I'm enjoying most everything about pregnancy other than being a little bit tired. I do love a nice cold bowl of cereal in the morning for breakfast which I guess would be one of the things I so enjoy during the end of this pregnancy.
This past weekend I went to Catherine's baby shower. She is having a little boy as well. Derek and Catherine's husband, josh, grew up together. Their baby Hamilton is due 12 days before Davis. I had a lot of fun at her baby shower and am just excited for mine coming up this weekend and the following weekend! Everyone is so excited to meet these sweet babies!! I'll go back to see Dr. Clapp on valentines day and see if we can get an ultrasound pic of Davis-- fingers crossed!!! Maternity pics are on Feb. 16th as well! :) stay tuned!!

30 weeks in Florida

This past weekend my mother and I flew to Florida to visit my grandma. She is in a nursing home there-- diagnosed with Fronto-temporal dementia or Picks disease. She has been there for the past two years. We made a small weekend trip to go visit her since she doesn't love anywhere near us!!

This is a picture of me telling my grandma that I am pregnant and she will be a great grandmother. She always thought I would have a baby boy-- Davis' middle name is Shelton which was my grandmothers married name. LILO Shelton is her name. My grandfather (her husband) passed away 12 years ago, shortly after they moved to Florida from North Carolina. A special moment was when granny repeated his name slowly ... She said Davis and she had a big big smile on her face.

This is a pic of granny's door to her room. There is a pic of me and her there.
My mom and grandma the second day we visited. She was eating dinner which consisted of purée hot dogs and sweet potatoes. Granny has lots of friends there that take good cAre of her day in and day out.
This was granny sleeping so peacefully! We didn't want to disrupt her so we let her sleep. She is so sweet. I love her so much!
Granny and me on the last day visiting! Baby Davis too!
Mom and I at the hotel where we stayed on the last night.
We did some really good eating while on Daytona. The last night we ate at Don Vito's where we had real authentic Italian food. This was the chicken carbonara which was excellent. We also got the caprese salad and desert! Yum!
The first night we went to a place to eat called Ronin. We had the best ginger salad with crips.
This is their volcano roll atop with a crap salad.
The desert was also amazing. Fried bananas and Japanese ice cream-- mango and green tea.
Enjoying the desert!
A view from our hotel room! Sunny Florida-- way better than the 20 degree weather back home!

29 and 30 week photos

This week baby Davis is 2.5 lbs and the size of a butternut squash. Yesterday was the first day that I saw my belly ripple! That was pretty awesome to feel him move more and Derek was able to watch my belly move all around. I went today for my 30 week doc appointment and everything went great. Baby boy is growing right on target and heart is beating good!

My mom and I are flying to Florida this weekend to visit my granny Lilo who is in a nursing home with fronto temporal dementia. I wish baby Davis had the opportunity to meet his great papa norm and his great papa Cecil. I will make sure he knows how wonderful of men they both were. :):) happy moment!

Until next time --Leigh :)
