Inspiration LIVING ROOM picks

Here are some great living room inspiration pictures. From all of the above pictures I have come to the conclusion that "Moonshine" is going to be the best pick for the living room for the colors and style I am looking for.
Now I am looking at accent colors for the living room. I am leaning towards "blues and greens" or "yellows and grays". The office is adjacent to the living room and that is going to be painted a light blue so it might be realistic decorating wise to go ahead and go with the "blue and green" accent colors.

I really am partial to the cowhide rug laying overtop the natural look of the rug over the hardwood floors. I also like the zebra print pillow that ajoins the floral print pillows on the couch. You can never go wrong with floor to ceiling curtains that adhear to the wall so perfectly. I also like the clean look of the lamp on one side with the dark side table and starburst mirrow in the background. Can I get you to come decorate my home please???
This is one of my favoriate looks. The two matching yellow print chairs look great with the gray and white design of the rug.. a simple coffee table infront of a dark gray couch looks so well. Can't forget about the matching floor to ceiling yellow curtains. LOVE IT.
This is MY FAV room. I love the startburst mirror and green floor to ceiling curtains. This is SO simple yet so elegant.
This is more of a modern, beachy look. The blue and white stripe pillow reminds me of the beach. The different designs of different textures (pillow, rug, and drapery) adds alot of character to the room. I also love the blue, orange, and green.
THE FINAL LIVING ROOM COLOR PICK
I love the simplicity of the white couch. It makes the room look so fresh and clean. If only the white couch could majically stay clean, this would be my first pick. Looks like I am going to have to have a different color couch... (gray maybe)?

I think the "revere pewter" paint color is going to be too dark for the yellow and gray, or the blue, green, orange look I am going for.

Stay tuned......

The "PAINT PICKS" so Far

Derek and I will be starting to paint the living room, dining room, hallway, entryway, and all three bedrooms, and office starting on Wednesday. We have a few paint samples that we've chosen for each room. Here's the colors so far.
Moonshine by Benjamin Moore
 Swanky Gray by Sherwin Williams
Forevermore by Sherwin Williams
Coventry Gray by Benjamin Moore

The plan is to paint the dining room and office a pretty light blue called "Forevermore". Our master bedroom will be "Swanky Gray". The living room, entryway and hallway will be painted "Moonshine" although I am also leaning towards the color "Revere Pewter". Our guest bedroom and nursery will be painted in a darker shade of gray that we both love which is called "Coventry Gray". Now if I could just decide of the "Moonshine" or "Revere Pewter" for the living room. I need more paint samples. Can't wait to get in the house and start painting. :)

OUR FIRST HOME

Yesterday we found out that our loan was fully approved. We close on it next Wednesday April 18th, 2012 and are very excited to start remodeling/decorating our first home. It bought this house for a steal and plan on doing little by little to fix it up. We plan on removing all the bushes in the front yard and adding a little up to date landscaping along with the help of Derek's mom.
We first plan on painting the house, refinishing the floors, and installing central heating and air in the home. This home is a 1963 brick ranch and hasn't been updated since the 60s hence the need for central heating and air. ((Baseboard heating will stay and we will use this in the colder winter months to save energy and money on central heating)). We also want to remodel both bathrooms (hallway and master bathroom) demolishing most everything in the bathrooms.
We plan on priming and painting the wood paneling and fireplace.
We plan on replacing everything in the kitchen, from the appliances, new cabinets, new countertops, new floor, new backsplash. (basically everything).
Last, we plan on remodeling the basement for Derek's dream of having a "Man Cave". We plan on painting and adding carpet to the downstairs.

I will be updating the pictures on the post as I update our new home. Stay tuned for paint colors, ideas on decorating, etc.
